Jan. 29th, 2003 11:39 pmI just saw "Catch Me If You Can." I liked it; it was a good way to forget about boring old daily life for a couple hours. There were a couple moments I was laughing out loud.
My radio show is tomorrow night. Any music suggestions? I play mostly British stuff.
This weekend, I go to LA for the third weekend in a row. I'm going to get my new lenses (finally) and have a meeting with a social worker. I may be able to get some information, soon, about my birthparents -- I'm excited.
Harlan Ellison is my new hero. The man is a fucking genius. I'm reading "Shatterday," and I intend to devour the rest of his books at my earliest convenience.
My work got a packet of racist literature -- as in white-supremacist asshole abhorrent KKK bullshit propaganda fliers, accompanied by scrawled letters -- in the mail today, in response to an article we published in the MLK Jr. Day issue. The article was by a Southern white woman. In it, she recounted her experiences as a bigoted young person, and how she grew out of it and grew into aceptance and celebration of diversity and love. The respondent was not pleased; he called us "fuzzy-headed liberals" with "messed-up thinking." I'll post a response column I wrote if I feel like it. I was shocked -- yes, I am naive -- that such things are alive and well even in our liberal, happy-fun little enclave.
I visit Brian in the hospital tomorrow. I hope he's doing okay -- he sounded okay when he called, so I'm optimistic. I hope the thing works. I really hope it works.
