(no subject)
Jan. 24th, 2003 12:03 amI'm done with my first radio show! Yay! It was just like KBAR -- which is to say, easy, but the mic looks cooler and the carts are all digital, and the damn mixing board is futzing out on the left channel. Argh. No neat guitar solo in the Riverboat Song.
Anyway, here's my playlist:
The Divine Comedy / Frog Princess
The Smiths / Sheila, Take A Bow
Supergrass / Caught By The Fuzz
Blur / Magic America
Blur / Coffee And TV
Mercury Rev / Goddess On A Hiway
Stereolab / Three Longers Later
Suede / So Young (I meant to play The Drowners, but fucked up)
Spiritualized / Out Of Sight
The Beta Band / Dry The Rain
Belle and Sebastian / Dirty Dream Number Two (I meant to play Arab Strap, but missed it by one track)
Mansun / Fall Out
Mogwai / Yes! I Am A Long Way From Home
Placebo / You Don't Care About Us
Morrissey / Picadilly Palare (Live)
Ocean Colour Scene / The Riverboat Song
The Charlatans UK / My Beautiful Friend
Echobelly / King Of The Kerb
Pulp / Bar Italia
Longpigs / Lost Myself
Belle and Sebastian / Judy and the Dream of Horses
Any suggestions for next week?
After my show, I went to Brian's, to wish him well before he begins Part Two of the Big Brian Ordeal (those who know him know what I mean -- he starts again Monday, for a full week at a time. I'm going to go visit him probably Tuesday. Wanna come up midweek to say hi, Richie?). John's in town right now; we chilled and watched "Demolition Man" and a History Channel feature on the KKK, and John made gay innuendo at Brian (although neither one is, to my knowledge, gay). It was funny, and fun, and I'm glad to see Brian and John. Toni's looking well -- she's lost a bunch of weight and looks really fit, and Terry's always healthy-looking when well and sober, and John's lost a bunch of weight, too. Makes me feel as if I'm lagging. Shit, I go to the gym, don't I? Sure I do -- a couple times a week, at least. Perhaps I need to step it up. Well, I KNOW I do, but it's never a convenient time... :)
So. Mundane things aside, Terry looked at me today and sad "You look happy." I think he was being a touch fecetious because of the big put-on grin I had. But I responded with something like "Yeah, I guess I am." And, surrounded by friends, I meant it.
