heh. every once in a while, my self-checking mechanism lapses. at these times, I may think and express things that, while meant innocuously, betray my position as a privileged member of society. and what's more, betray my propensity for being mildly spoiled--I totally appreciate the advantages I have, but I sometimes forget about those who do not enjoy them and wallow in my own (relatively minor) inconveniences and problems. I have to actively combat this oversight, and sometimes I lapse.

today provided me with an opportunity to remember that I have it pretty fucking good. and it's all thanks to lj.
