Dec. 15th, 2001 02:54 pmso I'm home for the holidays.
a quick wrapup of school: I took my History final, on the way out of which I was assured by my TA that I passed the class. I think I did okay in film criticism and Tragedy, and my 20th century American poetry prof gave me an A on my final paper and an A- in the class--which is really like thievery on my part, given that I hardly read a line all quarter. Thank goodness for my drama background and insta-bullshit skills.
anyhow...I've been hanging out with friends and having fun. Kris gave me some rad Hanukah gifts, from which she will definitely benefit as well :) and we had a pretty good time hanging out over dessert and watching TV. Ben's and my potential band promises to actually meet over break, which is good.
last night, I went to the Coconut Teaszer to see Navaglo, the real band of Jahdiel and Melissa, the bassist and drummer Ben and I have met with. They were pretty good. I thought the mix was crap, and that the vocalist might do with a few voice lessons (he's a rad guitarist and has great stage presence, though--and the vocal problems might have been due to low monitor levels, as I kept seeing him point up to the sound tech). But they put on a fun set, the musicianship was tight and the songs were tuneful and well-arranged, and it only cost me and a friend $6 apiece plus parking to get in.
but on the other hand...a friend of mine (who shall remain unnamed here) has been diagnosed with cancer. fortunately, it's a very treatable strain that they caught early. but still, this person will be going through chemotherapy for the next few months, and I interact very closely with them in my daily life. it's gonna suck for them and for me.
ok, time to leave. my dad just farted.
