san francisco.
Aug. 31st, 2001 03:08 amMy family and I got back from San Francisco last night. Over the four days we were there, we went to the Winchester Mansion in San Jose, Coit Tower, the Golden Gate Bridge, the City Lights bookstore (owned by Lawrence Ferlinghetti and a landmark of SF literary history a la beatnik), Pacific Bell Park, the Academy of Sciences (with penguin-and-giant-fish-populated aquarium), and the movie Rat Race. It was all cool, but I think the only time I truly lost myself in enjoying what I was doing was during the movie. I started writing nightly in my paper journal, as well, and wrote the first two pages of fiction (okay, kind of a pre-story character sketch) that I've written in over a year. All in all, quite a nice trip.
Today, I got my new glasses fixed so they no longer dent my head. I also took the car in to find that the a/c has no leaks, so the fluid in the garage must be something else. Then I washed the car, inside and out. Then I saw Melinda, who needed (and still undoubtedly needs) love. I gave it to her (no not that kind, that's not my job). We saw Lauren and Ben at Starbucks, but I think I will mandate that these excursions be redirected to Madrid's. They need my $4 more than Starbucks does. They also serve smoothies and decent coffee, neither of which is to be found across Diamond Bar Boulevard.
Tomorrow, I get to go to Temecula to visit Kris. She's having a get-together with Robert and Jen, her friends who will be in town from school in LA. I'm excited. Soon, I will have to go to UCSB to move some furniture and clothes up there, fix my bike, try to get my UCLA units transferred. pick a minor, and perhaps do some work for Shirley or the Nexus.
This entry reads like a shopping list, I'm afraid. I'm just in that kind of mood. Pleasant, yet boring. A nice yawn and some sleep would suit me fine right now.
