It sucks that the closest approximation of ethical outrage of which many Americans seem capable is dissatisfied grumbling when bad news hits their bank accounts. Death, destruction, and misery borne by poor people worldwide have not had the effect on the collective American psyche, as measured by Bush's approval rating, that the tanking stock market has.
Better. But it still makes me mad.
