Mar. 20th, 2002 01:55 amSince everyone close to me was either really busy or really far away today, I lived my whole day through phone lines. I have spent an inordinate (even for me) amount of time on the Internet, while dishes, cleaning, my timesheet, mailing stuff, internship hunting, and homework remain undone.
Even the human contact I did have was tethered by phone lines: I saw Mark (the administrator of the server at which I have my website), and he showed me the machine Dumpstermonkey was on and helped me price out some RAM. He also let me play with his rats, though :) AThen, I went to Kung Pao Kitchen, at which I bought dinner, nbeing too lazy to cook. I would not have been able to do this were it not for the modem in the credit card machine.
That's it.
I've made a new online friend or two lately. This is great--the people I've been talking with are really cool, and definitely more interesting than many of the people I run across in IV.
But it's more phone-line living. This bothers me, as too much of it puts me in danger of flouting my resolution to live it up in IV while I'm here--I want to get all the local flavor, including that of the denizens. (Don't be naughty.) But it just...doesn't seem to work sometimes.
I need to shut up and go get some fresh air, but it's cold and no one's around, and I don't want to hear sorostitutes' jabber or see anyone talking on a cell phone. THAT'S what bugs me about cell phones--when you're on the phone, you're not anywhere, and when I'm out, I want to be where I am. Get it?
anyhow. I babble. talk to ya soon.
